In 2017, Professor Jennifer Horney, currently the director of epidemiology, conducted an SF 12
Study at one of Charity Productions; community capital events. The studys results indicated,
“Although survey participants were older and more likely to be African-
American than the overall population of Houston, they had higher mental health
composite scores than the national average, with increases in mental well-being
associated with a longer length of residence in their neighborhood.”
The collective sense of mental well-being is due to civic involvement and the consistency and
regularity of the information distributed by Charity Productions over forty years.
